The Project for the establishment of an International Court of the Environment was presented at the UN Conference on Environment and Development, (UNCED), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. A Global Forum on NGOs was also held in Rio de Janeiro at the same time, bringing together an unprecedented number of NGO representatives, who presented their vision of the world’s future in relation to the environment and socio-economic development.
